The main aim was to redevelop a previously closed military area as a school of performing arts, which includes study facilities, two theatres, library, museum, sport and commercial spaces, as well as residential buildings of different use and for various stakeholders (who belong and do not belong to school).
The biggest challenge was to integrate new improvements into the existing tissue of the area, which in its turn is quite different in scale and typology. Thus, new buildings of the school complex are placed and done in different proportions and with dynamic extensions between them, making them organically inscribed.
The residential part is located closer to the existing one to increase the level of integration between new and old inhabitants. The other cluster of a museum, sport and commercial are placed in the middle being equally accessible from studying and living parts. The cluster of school is created by 2 college buildings (with classrooms, rehearsal rooms of different kinds etc) and a library.
Each of the clusters (living, services and studying) has its own appearance and style, however, all of the buildings are still designed with one visual idea. All structures are placed in the way that they are creating squares between them which are also interconnected with each other and make the area more dynamic.
The theatre is an individual structure and connected to the park. It creates a system with a pool of same dimensions on the other side of the green area, which “mirrors” it.
